Privacy

Short version: we measure visits so we can see which episodes people actually find, we use Meta's and TikTok's ad tools to get the show in front of more men, and we keep your email address if you ask for the newsletter. We don't sell your information, and we never hand your name or email to advertisers.
What we collect
Visit statistics (Google Analytics). Which pages get opened, roughly where in the world you are (city level, from your IP address), what kind of device and browser you're on, where you arrived from, and how long you stayed. It doesn't tell us your name or who you are.
Ad measurement (Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel). Our pages include small pieces of code from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. When you visit, your browser sends them the page you're on, your IP address, device and browser details, and cookie identifiers. We also tell them about a few simple actions: viewing a page, clicking through to YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and signing up for the newsletter. If you're logged in to Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, those companies may link the visit to your account.
Your email address, but only if you give it to us. If you sign up for the newsletter, we store your address with Kit, the service that sends the emails.
Why we collect it
To make the show better and get it to the men who need it. Analytics tells us which episodes bring people in. The Meta and TikTok pixels tell us whether our posts and ads actually lead people to the show, and let us show Men on a Mission content to people who have already visited.
What we don't do:
- We don't sell your information for money. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We don't give your name or email address to Meta, TikTok or anyone else for their marketing.
- We don't send anything you type into a form, or anything about your health, to an ad platform.
- We don't show other companies' ads on this site.
- We don't try to work out who you are as an individual.
One honest caveat: Meta and TikTok handle the data their pixels receive under their own privacy policies, and they can use it for their own purposes, such as improving their ad systems. That's how these tools work, so we'd rather say so plainly.
Cookies and how to opt out
Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok set cookies in your browser so they can tell a returning visit from a new one and measure ads. If you'd rather they didn't, you have options:
- Block third-party cookies or clear cookies in your browser settings, or use a content blocker.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
- In Facebook or Instagram, go to Accounts Center and open Ad preferences to limit ads based on activity from other websites.
- In TikTok, go to Settings and privacy, then Ads, to turn off ads based on activity from other sites.
- Use the industry opt-out page at optout.aboutads.info.
The site works exactly the same either way. Nothing is gated behind accepting anything.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, you'll get an email when a new episode goes up, and occasionally something else worth reading. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. We won't email you about anything you didn't sign up for, and we won't pass your address to anybody else.
Services we use
These companies handle data for us or receive it through our site. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — site statistics
- Meta — ad measurement (Meta Pixel)
- TikTok — ad measurement (TikTok Pixel)
- Kit — newsletter delivery
- Netlify — website hosting
Embedded YouTube thumbnails load from Google's servers, so Google sees the request. Clicking through to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or any social platform puts you under their privacy policies, not ours.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe using the link in any email we send.
- Ask us to delete your email address and we'll remove it. Write to peter@moampod.com.
- Ask what we hold on you and we'll tell you.
- Opt out of ad tracking using the steps under "Cookies and how to opt out" above.
No forms, no hoops. Just email and ask.
Children
This site and the podcast are made for adults. We don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13.
Changes
If this changes, we'll update the date at the top. Substantial changes will be mentioned in the newsletter.
